A Guide to Asynchronous Audio Feedback in Hifz Focus

Hifz Tips

One of the most powerful features in Hifz Focus is the ability for students to submit audio recordings of their lessons and for teachers to provide precise, asynchronous feedback. This workflow is a game-changer for both Hifz (memorization) and, especially, for Tajweed (pronunciation) correction.

This guide explains how both students and teachers can use this feature effectively.

For Students: How to Record and Submit Your Lesson

The audio feature allows you to practice and get feedback on your own schedule, without needing a live session.

1. Find the Record Button*: On your Student Dashboard, in the "To-Do List" card, you will see a *microphone icon next to each lesson (Sabak, Practice, or Dour).

2. Open the Recorder: Click the microphone icon for the lesson you want to record. This will open the recording dialog, which displays the Mushaf for that lesson so you can follow along.

3. Record Your Recitation:

* Click "Start Recording" to begin.

You can use the "Pause"** and *"Resume" buttons as needed.

* When you are finished, click "Stop."

4. Review and Submit:

* After stopping, an audio player will appear. You can listen back to your recording to check it.

* If you're not satisfied, simply click "Start Recording" again to make a new one.

* Once you're happy with it, click "Submit for Review."

After you submit, the microphone icon next to that lesson will be replaced with a "Pending Review" status. Your teacher will be notified automatically.

For Teachers: How to Review and Give Feedback

This feature allows you to review student submissions whenever you have time and provide incredibly detailed feedback.

1. Locate Pending Recitations*: On your Teacher Dashboard, students with pending audio submissions will have a *"Recitation Ready for Review" badge. You can also see this when you start a session with the student.

2. Start a Review Session*: When you start a session, any lesson with a pending recitation will have a *"Play Recitation" button.

3. Listen and Mark Errors:

* Click "Play Recitation." The Mushaf will load the correct lesson, and an audio player for the student's recording will appear at the bottom.

* Play the audio. As you listen, you can follow along in the Mushaf and mark errors in real-time, just as you would in a live session.

For Tajweed: This is incredibly powerful. You can pause the audio, replay a specific word, and mark a subtle *Khafi error with a specific category (e.g., "Madd," "Ghunna Timing").

4. Add Your Own Audio Notes: For an even deeper level of correction, you can add your own audio notes to any error you mark.

* Mark an error, then click the "Details" button for that error in the list.

* Click the "Record Correction" button to record yourself demonstrating the correct pronunciation.

* This audio note will be attached directly to the error, so the student can hear exactly how to fix it.

5. Complete the Session*: Once you've finished the review, click *"Complete & Save Session" and mark the lesson as "Memorized" or "Needs More Practice."

The student will instantly receive a notification that their session has been reviewed. When they view the lesson, they will see all the errors you marked and be able to play back any audio notes you left, creating a highly effective and flexible feedback loop.
